Landscape Design & Installation in Satellite Beach, FL

Salt air, tough plants.

Satellite Beach is a barrier-island city.

Ocean on one side, the Banana River on the other, and salt in the air between.

Landscaping in Satellite Beach

Twenty-four minutes to the ocean.

Satellite Beach is about 24 minutes from our office, fifteen miles by road.

We run US-1 south, cross the Pineda Causeway, then take A1A into town.

The city has the Atlantic to the east, the Banana River to the west and several canals.

The typical home here went up around 1975, and about 82% of homes are owner-occupied.

Pelican Beach Park and Hightower Beach Park sit on the ocean side of town.

Next door in Indian Harbour Beach we remade a front yard with pine-straw beds and a pygmy palm.

A bougainvillea standard finishes that yard. We bring the same design-build team here.

Local conditions

What Satellite Beach yards ask for.

Beachside, the ocean, the city and the sea turtles all have a say in the plan.

  • Salt comes first

Close to the ocean or the Banana River, we start from the UF/IFAS list of salt-tolerant plants.

  • Turtle season lighting

From March 1 to October 31, beachfront lights must be shielded or off between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.

  • No summer lawn fertilizer

City law bans fertilizing lawns in Satellite Beach from June 1 to September 30.

  • A Tree City USA

The city is a Tree City USA and promotes Florida native plants as suited to local soil and weather.

Satellite Beach questions

Good to know in Satellite Beach.

Nearby: Suntree // Melbourne // Cocoa Beach

What are the turtle lighting rules in Satellite Beach?

For beachfront homes, nesting season runs March 1 to October 31.

From 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., outdoor lights must be shielded or switched off.

On the beach itself, amber and red lights count as visible too.

Can I fertilize my Satellite Beach lawn in summer?

No. The city bans lawn fertilizer from June 1 to September 30.

We plan feeding and new sod around that window.
