Landscaping in Cocoa

Six minutes up US-1.

Cocoa City Hall, in Cocoa Village, is about 6 minutes and three miles from our office.

The whole drive is US-1 north, with no bridge and no causeway to cross.

The typical Cocoa home was built around 1975, and about 62% of homes are detached houses.

Cocoa Village runs along Florida Avenue to Stone Street and down to Riverfront Park.

Just north of it, Indian River Drive is a slow residential road running beside the water.

Farther out, Adamson Creek and Emerald Lakes sit more than five miles west of City Hall.

Across all of it we design and install new beds, sod, lighting, stone and irrigation.

Local conditions

What Cocoa yards ask for.

Cocoa writes its own rules for fertilizer and water, and they get stricter by the river.

  • No fertilizer by the river

East of Indian River Drive or within 10 feet of water, no fertilizer all year. We plant for that.

  • June to September blackout

City law bans fertilizing anywhere in Cocoa between June 1 and September 30.

  • Reclaimed water, where piped

Cocoa supplies reclaimed water in some areas, and it may be used for irrigation at any time.

  • Clippings stay off the street

Cocoa asks that grass clippings and yard debris stay out of curbs, roads and storm drains.

Cocoa questions

Good to know in Cocoa.

Nearby: Rockledge // Merritt Island

Can I fertilize my lawn in Cocoa in summer?

No. City law bans fertilizing between June 1 and September 30.

We time new planting and feeding around those dates.

Does Cocoa have reclaimed water for sprinklers?

In some areas. The city says it intends to reach as many residents as supply and funding allow.

Reclaimed water is not tied to the watering-day schedule.
